Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks and we truly do have so much to be thankful for! We are so thankful and blessed for our amazing family and friends, as we received so many texts, calls, flowers and cards throughout the last couple of weeks letting us know that people are thinking and praying for us and sweet baby girl. Although sometimes it is hard to see in a moment of sadness we must keep everything we are thankful for in our minds...my motto lately (for so many things) is "what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger". This statement is so true although it is hard to believe sometimes.
At the last doctor's appointment, he advised us not to travel anywhere for the holidays (we were supposed to go to Charleston for Thanksgiving to see Alston's family and unfortunately had to cancel that). Luckily, Alston's family was able to get flights out to Dallas so we were able to spend Thanksgiving with his family and mine. We had a nice Thanksgiving at my parents house and of course all ate too much! It was so wonderful to have Alston's family in town, not to mention it was a nice distraction to have company around the house! It was really tough on Sunday when everyone left and to know that we had to go back to work on Monday. Although Monday was a tough day it was nice to get back into the groove of things and so many people came by to share their story or to just give me a hug and say they are sorry.
Time does heal the pain (sadness, heavy heart, etc)...each day gets easier and easier to face. On Wednesday, Alston and I went in for our next appointment (25 weeks) and were very anxious to check on how baby girl was doing. We got a great report from the sono tech who measured her and checked her heartbeat. We then went in to talk to the doctor and it was great to get some questions answered. Although we may never know what happened with baby boy, the doctor still thinks it was a chromosomal abnormality. The doctor did blood work at the last appointment to test me for infection and all tests came back normal (thankfully we can rule that out and also know that there is not an infection that might hurt baby girl). We both left this appointment feeling a lot better about moving forward. So many times in my mind (and out loud to Alston) would say we have to move forward for baby girl, we have to be happy/excited about baby girl , we can't forget about baby girl....I can finally say that I am starting to feel that! It is amazing how in the darkest of days you don't think or feel that darkness will end, but surprisingly it does and that is such a good feeling! :) Here are a few pictures of sweet baby girl from this weeks appointment.
